Playing With The Right Golf Equipments
It is one of the oldest games and its land of origin is Scotland. Yes we are talking about golf, one of the most interesting games of all times. The equipments needed in this game are
CLUBS
Woods: Though the woods are not actually made of wood, they are called so because they were initially made of wood. In 1980’s, the manufacturers started making the clubs out of steel/titanium but in recent times it’s made of carbon fiber. They are big headed and long shaft in order to drive the ball to a long distance. It is designed to get a proper stroke on the ball.
Irons: These are clubs used for rough, long and complex shots example, in greens or over the trees. Their face is flat angled and the shaft is short. This is to get a perfect grip and a strong hold for a difficult swing shot. The irons are made of cast iron.
Wedges: They are technically designed clubs. Used for accurate placing, wedges are high loft irons lofted at 44 degrees. Wedges are commonly used for approach shot, lay-up shots or chipping onto the greens. There are four types of wedges; pitching wedge also called 10 irons; gap wedge also called approach wedge; sand wedge to assist the golfer get out of sand traps, and the chipping wedge also called the chipper. Each one is designed in a different angle for different angle of shot.
Hybrid woods: They are a combination of woods and irons. These are designed for long(like woods) shots and perfect swing(like irons).
Drivers: There are two types of drivers, small head and large head. The small drivers are about 380cc-410cc and the large drivers are 460cc in volume size. The small divers help players to swing with more control whereas the large ones improve consistency in shots.
Putters: They are clubs with a 10-degree angle, used for moving the ball from the spot to the cup. They are crafted in a way that they increase the movement of the ball and reduce bounces as it rolls.
All these clubs are carried in a bag by the golfers on the course.
BALLS:
The golf ball is designed in a dimple pattern to optimize its aerodynamics. The spinning, velocity, straightness and the distance it goes, depends upon the dimples made on it. The ball is kept on a tee before being shot and then gently hit to roll towards the hole. There are different types of ball and their sizes used in the game. Different golfers have different choices.
GOLF CARTS:
The golf cart or buggy is a vehicle used to carry one or two golfers and their equipments from distance to another, around the golf course, instead of walking and wasting time. They are slow cars with a speed of 15km/h and electrically made to avoid noise and pollution. Some of the cars these days also run on gas.
TEES:
An average tee used in a golf game is 2.125" long. There may be different sizes of tees used as per the convenience of the golfer. It is basically used for the first hit of every hole named as tee shot. The head of the tee has a tri-holster to hold the ball before the stroke.
